Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7. Now is the time to review your coverage and explore your options for 2027. Changes made during this period generally take effect January 1.
At Strategic Investment Services (SIS), we offer Medicare Advantage plans and help you compare available options based on your doctors, prescriptions, healthcare needs, and budget.
What Is Medicare Advantage?
Medicare Advantage, also called Medicare Part C, is another way to receive your Medicare benefits through a private insurance company approved by Medicare. Plans cover Medicare Part A hospital services and Part B medical services, and most include Part D prescription drug coverage.
Joining a Medicare Advantage plan does not mean you lose Medicare. You remain enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B and keep your Medicare rights and protections. However, you receive most Medicare-covered services through the private plan, which has its own costs, provider network, and coverage rules.
What Are the Potential Advantages?
Depending on the plan and where you live, Medicare Advantage may offer:
Prescription drug coverage: Most plans combine medical and prescription coverage in one plan.
Additional benefits: Plans may include routine dental, vision, hearing, or fitness benefits that Original Medicare generally does not cover.
An annual out-of-pocket limit: Plans limit what you pay for covered Part A and Part B services each year.
Low or $0 monthly plan premiums: Some plans offer a $0 plan premium. You must continue paying your Medicare Part B premium, and deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance may apply.
Choose Coverage That Fits Your Life
Extra benefits can be valuable, but the right plan should also fit how you receive care. Before enrolling, check whether your doctors and hospitals participate, how your prescriptions are covered, and what your total costs could be. Some plans require referrals or prior authorization for certain services. Benefits, costs, and networks can change each year.
